About this course
Despite it's frustrations and limitations, email remains a very effective form of business communications if managed correctly. Recent months and years have seen the rise of other forms of messaging (SMS, chat, ICQ etc) and social networking (Facebook, Linked-in, Twitter) but for marketers, email is still king...
This course is designed to give you the skills to design effective email messages that look and read well, as well as strategies for managing customer lists, sending email, and handling subscriptions and bounces ethically and efficiently.
What you will learn
The course begins with an overview of the major issues facing email marketers and an overview of the skills needed to effectively design and send mail.
We'll then go back to basics with a short revision of HTML and page design, with a specific focus on designing for the limited space of an email program, including a discussion of how popular email clients handle HTML, remove critical tags, and deal with CSS styling.
The course will then explore a range of strategic considerations such as client-side versus server-side list handling, successful management of failed deliveries, bouncing addresses, unsubscriptions and opt-in permissions.
Finally, we'll include detailed solutions for overcoming blacklisting, junk mail filters and over-zealous SPAM blockers which can prevent your messages reaching their intended recipients.
